Hereditary UK DVD/Blu-ray release date and bonus features

Hereditary didn't have an easy time of it when it was released earlier this year.

It's certainly not the first time a critically acclaimed slow burn horror movie has received a mixed-to-angry reaction from punters at the cinema who are primarily looking for that Conjuring-esque rollercoaster experience, full of jump scares and creepy walks in the dark, and it won't be the last. Hereditary had a few of those, but it was more concerned with just unrolling its wonderful cinematography and weirdness out on us until its climactic scenes, which tended to stick in the brain, try as we might to forget them.

Oh, and if everyone could also agree to never make that clicking sound during a quiet moment ever again, we'd appreciate it? Shudder.

Ari Aster's debut feature film has now set its UK home release date, and you'll be able to pick up a copy via digital, DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray Steelbook on 8th October. Plenty of time before Halloween for a rewatch, then!

There don't appear to be any plans for a 4K UHD release at the moment, which seems a shame, but judging by the disappointing list of special features here (see below) we'd say there's ample opportunity for a very nice special edition to happen in the future!
