An intense wildfire raging through Southern California forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes, including several celebrities, who are awaiting the fate of their residences.
Gerard Butler called it a "heartbreaking time across California" after learning his home burned to ashes.
"Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating," the "300" star posted Sunday on Twitter, alongside a picture of him standing in front of the remaining rubble. "Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters. Thank you @LAFD."
In a video posted to his Instagram story, Butler said, "Welcome to my home in Malibu" as he walked around his scorched property.
The Woolsey fire started Thursday night and by Friday had pushed toward Malibu and the Pacific Ocean, prompting evacuations in Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura Hills and other nearby areas. Authorities said Saturday that at least 150 homes had burned.
"Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" star Shannen Doherty said her "heart is ripped apart" after losing the Malibu home where she married her husband in 2011 to flames.
Posting an Instagram picture from her wedding day, Doherty wrote: "This place. I got married there. But before that, it’s the place @chriscortazzo let me stay in after my dad passed away. It’s the place I felt my dad with me. It’s gone. Fire has taken it away. I’m devastated by all that’s happening."
Doherty was out of town when the fire broke out, but friends staying at her property were able to evacuate safely with the actress' dogs and horse.
The fast-moving flames also claimed Robin Thicke's Malibu home.
The singer's pregnant girlfriend, April Love Geary, shared a picture of the couple's damaged home in an Instagram story. "Our house is gone," she wrote with a crying emoji.
USA TODAY has reached out to Thicke's representatives for comment.
"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" staple Camille Grammer confirmed early Sunday morning on Instagram that her home went up in flames: "Sadly my house couldn’t be saved. The courageous firefighters were able to save my cars and personal items recovered from my home."
Grammer, who married David C. Meyer last month, said she's "grateful that my family is safe."
"Luckily we quickly evacuated our house yesterday after a patrol car drove up the street announcing mandatory evacuations," she wrote, alongside an image of her home on fire. "I’m grateful for my lovely neighbors and friends who kept me informed and for their help this evening."
"The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" star Tracey Bregman shared a picture of her home up in flames: "Last picture of my house. Thank God we are all safe. I have no other words. I’m just numb for us all."
Alyssa Milano, an outspoken voice of the #MeToo movement, was among the lucky ones whose home was spared.
The actress, who evacuated her home Friday after tweeting it was "in jeopardy," took to Twitter to confirm her home is "still standing." Milano also thanked the firefighters who risked their lives battling flames, adding she was bringing them water and food.
Caitlyn Jenner was also lucky. Jenner's representative, Alan Nierob, told USA TODAY that the Olympian's home was still standing.
A hilltop home believed to be hers appeared intact when it was shot by a photographer on Saturday.
Rainn Wilson, best known for playing Dwight Schrute on "The Office," updated his Twitter followers on the status of his house: "We are safe and sound," he said, noting that they are currently abroad.' Our animals were rescued and our house (barely) spared."
Wilson said the flames narrowly missed his property "by a dozen yards."
Other celebrities, however, are still awaiting the fate of their homes.
Cher couldn't get her mind off her endangered residence while preparing for a concert. "Getting ready for show. Such an Unreal experience. Fires across The St. From My House, Cant See Neighbors House Through The (fire emoji)."
Also left waiting was Caitlyn Jenner. A hilltop home believed to be hers appeared intact when it was shot by a USA TODAY photographer on Saturday.
Jenner's representative, Alan Nierob, told USA TODAY that the Olympian's home was still intact.
Tori Spelling revealed on Instagram that her "Beverly Hills, 90210" co-star Jennie Garth had taken in her whole family and their pets after they were evacuated.
"Thank you most of all to my childhood, adulthood, everything in between, and lifelong friend @jenniegarthfor giving our ginormous family flesh and fur your entire house to stay at in a moments notice," Spelling wrote. "I’m not good at asking for what I need. But only my best friend would know that and jump in and just make it happen!"
Orlando Bloom shared a picture of flames creeping up on his neighborhood: "This is my street as of two hours ago praying for the safety of all my malibu fam, grateful to our brave firefighters please stay safe."
Melissa Etheridge told her fans she remains evacuated. "I am not sure about our home, pretty sure it’s ok," she wrote, adding "So many here have lost everything. It’s not over yet."
"Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill tweeted that "although the (fires) are dangerously close to our home," his family is "safe at the moment & rooting for our #FearlessFirefighters in their battle vs #MeanMotherNature."
Jessica Simpson asked "the angels to keep surrounding our home" after evacuating. The actress thanked the "brave firefighters who have protected our home so far" and sent prayers for "everyone in California affected by these terrible fires."
One Direction member Liam Payne tweeted his fear that he is "about to lose my house and its memories." He also warned anyone caught in the fire to not "take unnecessary risks."
These celebrities join Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian West, Khloe Kardashian and famed director Guillermo del Toro, among others, who have shared their fears on social media as they wait to see if they have a home to return to.
