Manu Samoa has slumped to a dramatic 30-29 loss to the USA in Spain this morning after the Eagles kicked a penalty in injury time to secure the historic victory.
With both sides scoring four tries, the late penalty goal to USA first-five eighth Will Hooley proved the difference.
The USA scored 15 unanswered points to start the match including tries to Worcester Warriors hooker Joe Taufete'e and flanker Hanco Germishuys.
The Samoans came roaring back in the first half, scoring 21 points of their own to take the lead before USA No.8 Cam Dolan scored the first of his double to leave the Eagles a point behind, 20-21.
Samoa scored again after the halftime break to extend their lead to 26-20 before Dolan took an intercept and scored as the Eagles regained the lead.
A penalty to Samoa saw them regain the lead but they weren’t able to hang on, with Hooley stepping up to kick the penalty that secured the Eagles a first ever win over Samoa.
