In an interview with the official match-day programme for Inter’s match at home to Barcelona tonight, Matias Vecino has shared his thoughts on the Champions League.
“We experience football in the same way that we face life. For us there are no limits or alibis: let’s go and play with everyone, always. We are used to challenging others,” he explained.
“The Champions League is a special competition, it is beautiful. My goal against Borussia Dortmund came right off the training pitch. On the field we know exactly what to do and we work for this.”
The former Fiorentina player then spoke on the team and how they get on.
“There is a special connection between the players in the group and you can see this from all the joy shown, even by those on the bench. In difficult moments we know we can count on everyone.”
He concluded by speaking on teammate Diego Godin, who he also plays with for Uruguay.
“As soon as they told me he would come, I thought he was exactly the kind of guy we would need. He is a point of reference both on and off the field.”
