A record has been set in Australia after parts of the country sweltered through it's hottest day ever.
The Land Down Under set a new record with how high the mercury can go, with the average maximum temperature seen across Australia being 40.9C degrees - which is 0.6C degrees higher than the previous level set in 2013.
There were loads of places around Australia that were well above 40C degrees, including South Australia's Ceduna (46.5), Queensland's Birdsville (46.1), and the Northern Territory's Lajamanu (46).
Bureau of Meteorology's Sarah Scully warned earlier this week that we were going to experience some pretty bloody hot conditions.
"We're expecting large areas of inland South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales to experience temperatures in the mid to high 40s," she said.
"For many areas, severe to extreme heatwave conditions will be felt, so it's important people follow the advice of health authorities, stay up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings from the Bureau and remember to check in on any vulnerable family and friends."
According to the ABC, Oodnadatta, in South Australia, is forecast to get up to 47C today, tomorrow and Friday. But folks who live there will get a slight reprieve on Saturday when the temperature drops to 45C.
Different parts of the country have been bracing for different days this week for a peak in the heatwave conditions.
Canberra is about to head into a heatwave until at least Sunday or even early next week, whereas Perth has borne the brunt of the brutal conditions from the start of this week.
Bureau climatologist Dr Blair Trewin said: "We saw significant heat build over Western Australia over the course of last week, and that heat is now pushing east over the continent, which is going to lead to several days of exceptional heat."
Thankfully the fire danger rating isn't too bad for most parts of the country however that's expected to change tomorrow.
