
Deontae Lawson hit the game-winning layup with :09 left as Mobile Christian edged rival Cottage Hill 51-50.
Lawson, an Alabama football commit, scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second half.
Chance Spears added 16 for the Leopards, who improved to 17-6 on the season and host Bayside on Tuesday night.
Tyler Copeland and Christopher Harris led the Warriors with 12 points apiece.
OTHER BOYS GAMES:
Baker 69, Theodore 68: Christian Bedgood scored 23 points and Baker, which led by as many as 20 points, held off Theodore. Jayven Williams scored 11. Dynell Thomas led Theodore with 17. Clarence Chastang and Brayden Jenkins each scored 11 and EJ Simmons had 10. The Hornets improved to 14-7, 5-2 in 7A, Area 1.
Murphy 59, Foley 45: Marcus Green led all scorers with 16 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Larry Stevens added 15 points and six assists. Mike McKinnis chipped in 12 points and five assists for the Panthers (6-10, 2-2 7A, Area 2).
UMS-Wright 59, W.S. Neal 33: Nine players scored in a balanced effort for Class 4A No. 2 UMS (21-3, 4-0 4A, Area 1). Trey Bonham scored 14 to lead the Bulldogs. Amon Craig scored 16 for the Eagles. UMS hosts Escambia County on Monday.
St. Michael Catholic 56, Pensacola Catholic 47: Donovan Garrett had 10 points and six rebounds for the Cardinals (12-6). Jake Kokoszka chipped in with nine points and Dominic Murphy had eight.
Bayshore Christian 48, Bayside Academy 46: Nathan Vincent scored a career-high 29 points for the Eagles.
Millry 63, Fruitdale 36: Trey Lewis had 25 points, nine rebounds, seven steals, five assists and three blocks for the Wildcats. Tate Warr added 12 points and six rebounds, while Tyler Lewis added 12 points and five rebounds. On Friday, Millry defeated Leroy 56-42. Lewis led the Wildcats with 21 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Tyler Lewis had 13 points.
Baldwin County 47, Blount 35: James Stanley had 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Tigers. Ja’mere Brown had 10 points and four assists, while Deimarkus Sewel had nine points, 16 rebounds and five blocks.
GIRLS
St. Luke’s 59, McIntosh 31: Senior Elizabeth Roebuck led the way with 22 points, junior Whitney Novak added 15 points and sophomore Iamunique Bowie scored 11 for the Wildcats (14-3).
Theodore 69, Baker 41: Asia Thompson and Elissa Murry both had 20 points to lead the Bobcats (21-3, 7-0 in 7A, Area 1). Theodore clinched the area title.
Foley 72, Murphy 27: Junior MG Lymon scored 10 points to surpass the 1,000-point mark for her career. She joins teammate Kaitlyn Knight, who reached 1,000 points last season. Jakiaya Jackson led all scorers with 17, while sophomore Taniya Bragg chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds for Foley (25-2).
McGill-Toolen 41, Fairhope 26: Junior Sanola Mixon scored 10 points as the Yellow Jackets (19-4) pulled away in the second half. The team faces Fort Walton on Monday at 4 p.m. in the MLK shootout at West Florida High.
Faith Academy 44, St. Paul’s 27: Aaliyah Austin had 13 points and seven rebounds and Ashanti Lipscomb had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Rams (12-9, 5-1 5A, Area 1.)
Baldwin County 38, Blount 29: Niya Boykin had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers.
Williamson 63, Escambia County 28: Tiarra Boggs scored 12 points and Natalie Harris Hickbottom had 11 points for the Lions. Cianna Betts scored 18 for Escambia.
