For the Forsyth County News
With seconds remaining at the end of extra time, and the score stuck at 1-1, the Denmark boys launched one more counter attack with the hope of finding the elusive goal that would give them the win.
Dolapo Morakinyo, a junior from South Africa who moved to Forsyth County mere months ago, found the ball at his feet inside the box with 20 seconds remaining. He placed the shot perfectly in the bottom left-hand corner and gave Denmark a 2-1 lead to finish off Blessed Trinity on Tuesday night.
Denmark was the better team for the majority of the match, as the Danes controlled possession and the tempo of the game. They scored the first goal as a result through sophomore Jacob Pelletier, who chipped the keeper 19 minutes into the game.
At that point in the game, the Danes were dominating as Blessed Trinity was forced to live off the counter attack. However, two minutes after taking the lead, Denmark unnecessarily fouled Blessed Trinity sophomore Kyle Patterson inside the box, granting them a penalty.
