“We have to keep the perspective that we have more people hospitalized right now and we’re going to be prepared for the worst,” the governor said.

The state Health Department announced Friday that the partnership with Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma would enable the state to meet current demand. The department, which can get test results more quickly, will continue to conserve its limited supplies of testing materials for the most vulnerable populations.

The governor announced Friday evening that all 77 counties had been approved for Small Business Administration loans.

Also on Friday, United Way of Central Oklahoma launched a COVID-19 response fund, with the help of the Love’s company, to help children adversely affected during the economic downturn that will accompany the spread of the disease. And the University of Oklahoma activated an emergency assistance program to help students pay for food, housing and other expenses.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that $80 million would be provided to Native American tribes, tribal organizations and Urban Indian Organizations to deal with the pandemic.

Stitt said he was worried about the economic hardship on workers and businesses but said Oklahomans need to observe the White House guidelines of social distancing and avoid gatherings of 10 or more people.

The governor has not ordered statewide restrictions on bars and restaurants, though some cities, including Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Norman, have imposed their own. Midwest City on Friday announced some limits, though people will still be able to dine in restaurants, with no more than six allowed at a table and tables spaced further from each other than usual.

The Army Corps of Engineers said it would close campgrounds starting next week. The Corps manages campgrounds at Arcadia, Eufaula, Texoma, Keystone, Kaw and Canton lakes, among others.
