DOH reports COVID-19 cases breach 5,000 mark, while 53 more people recover - CNN Philippines

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 14) — The Department of Health said the number of local cases of COVID-19 has passed the 5,000 mark as of 4 p.m. Tuesday

With 291 more people testing positive for the virus, the tally of cases has risen to 5,223. The death toll also rose to 335, with 20 new fatalities recorded.

The ranks of those who survived the dreaded disease likewise increased to 292, with 53 new recoveries.

No details were provided on the new cases by the DOH as of posting time.

Since April 4, the country has recorded less than 300 new cases daily, except on April 6 when it recorded 414 new cases.

Worldwide, there are over 1.9 million positive COVID-19 cases, and over 119,000 deaths

Data from the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering shows the United States has the most number of cases at over 582,000.

Spain, Italy, France, Germany, United Kingdom, mainland China, Iran, Turkey, and Belgium round up the 10 countries who have the most number of positive COVID-19 cases.
