Last week, reports surfaced claiming that Victoria Beckham had furloughed 25 of her employees working for her fashion label, to prevent the business from going under.
Her decision was met with a hefty amount of criticism, with people suggesting that she should be using her own money to pay staff. VB has since said she's had the "worst week" and feels that the backlash she's facing is entirely unfair.
According to the Sun, Victoria told a friend that "she thinks it’s unfair and had no idea the backlash would be this bad."
"She's really upset and doesn't think it's fair she's getting slammed for something a lot of companies and businesses are doing," the source added.
Despite putting her staff on the government scheme, which sees taxpayers paying 80% of employees' wages, VB has offered her staff "enhanced packages" and has apparently "forgone her own salary," the Sun says.
The 46-year-old has also said that 20% of all profits will be donated to food banks during the coronavirus pandemic. A spokesperson said: "We are working hard to ensure our much-valued VB team are protected by keeping our business healthy. Having carefully assessed all our options, we made the decision to furlough a proportion of staff on an enhanced package."
Despite making a name for herself in the fashion industry, Victoria Beckham Limited has not made a profit since it launched back in 2008.
