
The 18th season of “American Idol” comes to a close with the finale 8-10 p.m. Sunday, May 17 on ABC.
The top five contestants will be revealed before the winner is crowned.

The show will include the return of “American Idol” veterans Cynthia Erivo and Rascal Flatts.
The contestants will each perform two songs – the second one will be their “official ‘American Idol’ single."
According to Entertainment News, “Before the real-time vote to determine the winner, Lionel Richie will perform "We are the World" with Katy Perry, Luke Bryant and past “American Idol” contestants including Alejandro Aranda aka Scraypoolparty, Gabby Barrett, Jordin Sparks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Laine Hardy, Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard and Scotty McCreery.”
And, Perry will debut her new song, “Daisies.”
The finale will be live but remote as it has been for several weeks because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
According to host Ryan Seacrest, the finale will include confetti cannons.
The remaining contestants are:
- Arthur Gunn, Wichita, Kans.
- Dillon James, Bakersfield, Calif.
- Francisco Martin, Daly City, Calif.
- Jonny West, Studio City, Calif.
- Julia Gargano, Staten Island, N.Y.
- Just Sam, West Hollywood, Calif.
- Louis Knight, Philadelphia, Pa.
