The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Indonesia has exceeded 10,000 for the first time, the country's COVID-19 task force says.
The number of confirmed infections rose to 10,118 after 347 cases were reported overnight, task force spokesman Achmad Yurianto said on Thursday.
Eight new deaths brought the death toll to 792. Yurianto said the country had carried out more than 72,000 tests.
Meanwhile, cigarette maker HM Sampoerna, a unit of Philip Morris International, said it had closed its factory in Surabaya, the country's second-largest city, after two of its employees died of COVID-19.
"Our priority is the safety of our employees by implementing health protocols prescribed by the government," company spokesperson Elvira Lianita said in a statement.
Testing would be carried out on employees, she said.
Indonesia has imposed large-scale social restrictions in parts of the country, banning large gatherings and closing non-essential businesses and public places to curb the spread of the virus.
