Actress Linda Manz, who played Peewee in the 1976 film "The Wanderers," has died at age 58.
Manz's son, Michael Guthrie, told USA TODAY his "larger than life" mother died Friday at Palmdale Regional Medical Center in California. His GoFundMe page said the actress died of lung cancer and pneumonia.
"To a lot of people she was a larger than life figure with her roles in 'Out of the Blue' and 'Days of Heaven,' even being nominated for an academy award, but to us she’s just mom or grandma Linda," Guthrie said.
Manz was just 15 when she provided the narration for Terrence Malick’s "Heaven," which won the Oscar for cinematography. She was the lead in Dennis Hopper's 1980 cult film "Out of the Blue."
Guthrie said Manz and his father, camera operator Bobbie Guthrie, celebrated their 39th anniversary on July 10.
