‘Dynamite’ brings joy to listeners

BTS released their new single “Dynamite” in an effort to give people something lighthearted and encouraging during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“We have prepared a new single for ARMY, set for August 21. We are preparing an album for the second half of this year, but decided to first release a single because we wanted to reach our fans as soon as possible. Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans,” said the members during a VLIVE.

The song was written by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, and it features English lyrics. Combined with the happiness-infused music video, BTS brings joy to listeners around the world with the song.

“‘Cause I, I, I’m in the stars tonight / So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight (Hey) / Shining through the city with a little funk and soul / So I’ma light it up like dynamite, woah,” the group sings.

BTS released additional versions of the song

“Dynamite” is a disco-pop song, providing ’70s nostalgia and comfort. Following the release of the original, BTS released two new versions of the song that capitalize on the song’s positive elements.

According to a press release from Big Hit Entertainment, “Each version shows a different rendition to the Disco Pop track – while the minimal acoustic track puts at the very forefront the members’ vocals, the EDM is a rearrangement of the original song that maximizes the upbeat and fun vibes.”

The K-pop group also released a B-side music video for “Dynamite” on Aug. 24. The new music video shows alternate angles and puts an emphasis on the fun BTS experienced while filming the “Dynamite” music video.

‘Dynamite’ is dominating iTunes

Since its release on Aug. 21, “Dynamite” has remained at No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Top Songs chart. It also became the fastest song to ever reach 100 No. 1s on iTunes and did so within eight hours. With “Dynamite,” BTS achieved their fifth song to ever reach 100 iTunes No. 1s.

Now, the original, acoustic, EDM, and instrumental versions are all occupying the top four spots on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the U.S. It’s clear from this result that fans are loving all of the different versions of “Dynamite” and the uniqueness each remix brings to the song.

On Spotify, “Dynamite” debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s daily Global Top 50 chart. With 7,778,950 streams, BTS surpassed Taylor Swift’s record with “Cardigan” and now have the biggest Spotify debut of 2020.
