A magnitude 3.2 earthquake near Stanley, Custer County, Idaho, USA, was reported 34 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles beneath the epicenter early morning on Sunday 13 December 2020 at 5:05 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Stanley (pop. 68) located 10 miles from the epicenter.
