Weston McKennie has opened up his bank account for the Bianconeri! The 22-year-old United States international scored in the 77th minute to equalize for Juventus in their derby match today against Torino. Off a short corner, the ball ended up at the feet of Juan Cuadrado, who sent in a high cross to the edge of the 6 yard box. There, McKennie rose over everyone to head the ball with velocity into the right corner of the net.
It was McKennie’s first goal since he joined Juventus before the start of the season on loan from Schalke 04. He has 9 appearances for Juve in all competitions so far this season, including 4 appearances in Champions League play. He is the first American to score for the famous Italian club in their history and the 3rd American to ever score in Serie A.
Weston McKennie continues to earn the praise of newly minted Juve coach Andrea Pirlo, who brought the American midfielder in to shore up his defense and to help provide some aggressive play on offense as well. This performance by McKennie today will only keep that praise coming.
