I live in a tent with my 2 kids after being homeless — here's why it feels 'luxurious' - New York Post

They don’t have a house, but they’re still happy campers.

A single mom who lives in a tent with her two young children is showing off her unconventional living quarters, claiming they’re perfect for raising her family.

Lucy Aura, who hails from Queensland, Australia, was forced to move into the tent with her offspring after fleeing an abusive relationship.

But far from feeling sorry for herself, the mama told her TikTok that she loves living out in the elements and that her lodgings feel “luxurious.”

“There is just such a ridiculous amount of emphasis on needing to have your own house for security while not feeling secure because your [landlord] can kick you out for any reason,” Aura explained in one viral clip.

“I feel pretty secure within myself if I was to rent a house now because I know that I could always be okay being homeless,” she added. “The main thing that feels luxurious is to be within nature.”

In another clip, Aura took her followers inside the large tent, which is filled with books, clothes and musical instruments.

The mom has even added some aesthetic flair to her makeshift abode, with colorful rugs on the floor and trinkets tied to the tent’s canvas roof.

Aura and her children live in a campground located in the rainforest town of Kurandra — a 15-minute drive from the Great Barrier Reef.

The grounds have communal bathrooms, but there are also creeks for the family to swim in should they want to skip a shower.

The area is prone to tropical storms, and Australia’s infamously scary snakes and spiders plague the area, but Aura says she and her kids feel safe and content.

Aura has clocked up thousands of followers with her TikTok tent content, with many praising the mom for creating a loving environment for her kids in spite of her means.

“I was raised in a big home with no love or warmth and I can just feel the love and peace and joy between your kids in this tent,” one cooed.

“Honestly, this looks like heaven,” a second declared.

“Absolutely love this!” another declared. “Bless your beautiful home and family.”
