There is no better place in America to see fall colors than in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
At least according to USA Today readers.
The expansive, mostly-rural land mass north of the Mackinac Bridge was selected by the newspaper's readers across the country as the best destination in America to view fall foliage.
The multi-week competition was held as part of USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards for 2018. The U.P. and all its glory beat out 19 other locations around the country to win. Winners were announced on Friday.
"Just about the entire Upper Peninsula puts on a display of fall color that peaks during the last two weeks of September and the first week of October," a blub on the contest page reads. "A favorite fall experience for leaf peepers is the drive along M-26 along the shores of Lake Roland and past the trees of Copper Country State Forest."

The U.P. finished ahead of a diverse set of locations; an initial list selected by a panel of experts. The rest of the Top 10 includes, in order:

Lake of the Ozarks - Missouri
Pocono Mountains - Pennsylvania
Door County - Wisconsin
North Conway & the White Mountains - New Hampshire
Fayetteville & the Ozark Mountain Region - Arkansas

Black Hills & Badlands - South Dakota
Taos - New Mexico
