Artis Espriu named director of Mexico's CFE Telecom - Telecompaper

Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has announced the appointment of Raymundo Artis Espriu as the new director of its ‘CFE Telecomunicaciones e Internet para Todos’ subsidiary. Artis Espriu previously served as National Digital Strategy coordinator in the administration of Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who earlier this year pledged to bring full internet coverage to all parts of the country.

The government subsequently confirmed that it would be setting up a non-profit company that uses CFE’s wholesale fibre-optic network (Red Troncal) to meet that commitment. In August, Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) announced that CFE Telecom had been granted a single concession to provide non-profit telecommunications services and internet access to underserved parts of the country.
