Harry Potter star Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome welcome their first child - Yahoo Singapore News

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has welcomed a baby girl with his partner Georgia Groome.

Grint, who is best-known for his role as Ron Weasley in the wizarding franchise, revealed the news on Thursday (May 7).

A statement from the couple's representative said: "Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl. We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time."

Rupert and Georgia have been together since 2011 and announced the news of her pregnancy in April.

Georgia is also a child star, having played Georgia Nicolson in the hit teen comedy Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. She also starred in the 2006 crime drama London to Brighton.

At some point, you'd probably expect Grint and Georgia to sit their daughter down in front of the Harry Potter movies – although, maybe they won't, as Rupert recently admitted that he can't watch certain films in the franchise.

"I think those early ones are okay. More time has passed," he told the Radio Times. "I can detach myself a bit more from that kid. I did see Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone not long ago, for the first time since the premiere, and I actually enjoyed looking back.

"But the more recent ones I definitely couldn't do. I could probably go up to [third film] Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

Rupert is now gearing up for a second season of the Apple and M. Night Shyamalan horror series Servant.
