N.J. comedian Chris D’Elia accused of exposing himself to actress - NJ.com

Comedian Chris D’Elia is facing more allegations of sexual misconduct after a woman claimed that he exposed himself to her in 2011.

Actress Megan Drust told CNN that D’Elia asked her for a ride home from a restaurant in Los Angeles after she went there to meet the comedian and a friend.

Drust, who was 26 at the time, alleged that when they got in the car, D’Elia unzipped his pants and exposed himself to her.

Drust was one of several women who described encounters with D’Elia in the CNN report. One anonymous woman, who worked as a manager at a Cleveland, Ohio hotel where D’Elia stayed for a show in 2018, alleged that D’Elia was naked when he opened the door after calling at about midnight to say that the air conditioner wasn’t working in his room.

When she left, he allegedly called her again and told her she needed to come back “to help with his air conditioner.”

D’Elia denied the allegations through his attorney, Andrew Brettler.

“He has never engaged in any sexual conduct with any woman without her consent,” Brettler told CNN.

D’Elia, 40, who grew up in Montclair, is facing other allegations of sexual misconduct.

The claims came to light after Simone Rossi accused D’Elia of making advances toward her online in 2014 and 2015, when she was 16 and he was 34. In June, Rossi posted screenshots of emails she said D’Elia sent her. Rossi said D’Elia was aware of her age at the time.

A series of women then tweeted accounts involving D’Elia, some from when they were underage teens. He is accused of attempting to groom teen girls online and soliciting nude photos.

D’Elia issued a statement at the time.

“I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point,” he said. “All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me. That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.”

Laura Vitarelli told CNN (and previously, the Los Angeles Times) that D’Elia exposed himself to her and a friend after his performance in West Nyack, New York in 2015. She was 19 at the time, and said that D’Elia also groped her and her friend. The Times story included allegations of sexual impropriety against D’Elia from a total of women. D’Elia also denied those claims.

Drust told CNN she had previously considered D’Elia, an acquaintance, to be non-threatening, but that things changed when he got in her car.

“We are both sitting there and I’m like, ‘Where are we going?’” she said. “And Chris is leaning up against the door of the passenger side and looking at me in this really weird way and then he started to try to make flirty small talk. I was very confused because it just didn’t fit the moment. Then he took down his zipper and asked me to touch him and I said, ‘What are you doing? No.’ And because I wouldn’t touch him, he started to masturbate. I couldn’t believe it.”

Before Drust made those allegations, the comedian was feeling the effects of previous allegations.

D’Elia was cut from the upcoming Zack Snyder zombie movie “Army of the Dead” (which filmed in Atlantic City), and the role was recast with comedian Tig Notaro.

D’Elia’s representation — 3 Arts Entertainment and Creative Artists Agencydropped him as a client. Netflix also scrapped plans for a prank show that would have starred D’Elia and comedian Bryan Callen. Callen became the subject of allegations of sexual assault and misconduct soon after women made claims about D’Elia.

Comedy Central removed an episode of the series “Workaholics” in which D’Elia played a child molester. He also played a comedian and sexual predator who harasses a teenage girl in the Netflix series “You.”
