CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs men's golf team left the artic, snowy climes of the Scenic City for the balmy gulf coast of Alabama. The Mocs tee up for the first time this spring Monday at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate.
The Feb. 10 start date matches last season's opening at the UNCG Martin Down Collegiate. This serves as the earliest start in school history wrapping up on the 11th, while Martin Downs was completed on the 12th.
The spring's first five includes senior Will Porter, junior A.J. Lintunen and sophomores Leon Bader, Moritz Lammel and Dominic Jones. Porter (73.60) leads the squad in scoring by .04 strokes per round over Bader (73.64).
The last time in Mobile for this event was Feb. 2017. The Mocs tied for third with Mississippi State at 2-under 862 led by co-medalist Wes Gosselin's 6-under 210. Phil Hickam also earned a top 10 tying for ninth at 2 under. Brooks Thomas was co-medalist of the USA Individual played on a different course at Magnolia Grove with 3-over 216.
It's a two-day, 54-hole journey with tee times and scores, when available, accessible at the scoring link above.
