Bedroom expert shares six ’simple’ ways to make your room more ‘luxurious’ - Express

It is extremely important to have a bedroom space where you can relax and recharge and adding a few additions to the room doesn’t have to be expensive. Bedroom expert Laura Burnett from Feather & Black has shared six “simple changes” Britons can make to transform where they spend a lot of their time.

1. Integrate classic and timeless hardware

The expert explained: “Classic hardware including chairs, vanity sets, and wardrobes can set the tone for your bedroom. Wooden furniture pieces can significantly increase a room’s luxurious feel.

"Investing in high-quality sets can seem daunting, however a splurge on durable, low maintenance and timeless hardware can equal big savings in other areas.

“You will maintain that luxurious feel for longer with little effort and without needing to replace key pieces regularly.

“Data suggests consumers are increasingly investing in durable and quality pieces, with wooden vanity sets being searched for over 4,000 times a month on average, according to Google search data.”

3. Add a large headboard

While this addition may cost a little more money, a headboard is often the centrepiece of a bedroom and it can often determine the feel of a space.

The bedroom expert said by using panelling, or a neutral-toned headboard, you can add a “huge amount of luxury and elegance” to the room.

4. Incorporate a decorative throw or blanket

Laura continued: “For anyone hesitant to incorporate a bright colour scheme into the bedroom, a decorative throw or blanket can be the ideal way to add a pop of colour to a neutral-toned room.

“A throw or blanket at the end of the bed can tie the room together and make the bed the focal point of the room, adding a luxurious feel.

“If adding a throw or blanket isn’t quite to your taste, investing in other statement pieces, such as wall art can be one of the easiest ways to make your bedroom feel luxurious.

“Focus on a few key pieces rather than filling your walls – the larger the wall art, the more impactful and luxurious the finish.”

5. Declutter

One of the simplest but most effective ways to add a luxurious look to a bedroom is to avoid clutter in the room, including on the floors.

Having numerous, often mismatched, items around the room can be distracting.

The expert noted: “Keeping a clean and clear space can convey luxury with very little effort.

“Large storage options can help you achieve this look, whether you opt for a statement chest of drawers or an ottoman storage style bed.”

6. Switch to blackout curtains

Using black-out curtains is a quick way to add an element of luxury to the bedroom, as well as being incredibly practical.

Not only do they darken the room to give you a better night’s sleep, but Laura said most can also add a luxurious feel to the bedroom with a hotel room finish.
