Luxury German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the latest member to join its EQ line-up – the EQE SUV, which combines the high-tech applications of the marque’s electric cars with the versatility, spaciousness and practicality of an SUV.
The fourth model to be built on Mercedes-Benz’s Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform, the EQE SUV is the multi-purpose variant of the EQE executive saloon, but with a more dynamic presence than the EQS SUV. The new EQE SUV is presented across four options: EQE 350+, 350 4Matic, and 500, as well as the AMG EQE 43 4Matic performance variant.

The most critical aspect of any EV is range and power – with up to 590km on a single charge, there is very little anxiety in this regard. How quickly the car gets from zero to full depends on the charging capabilities available: the 90.6-kWh, 400-volt lithium-ion battery can achieve a full charge with a 22kW AC input charging station in slightlymore than four hours, but more ideal is DC fast charging, which at 170 kW, can secure you a full battery in a little more than half an hour.
The design of the new car is a careful culmination of the star of Stuttgart’s signature good looks, the sleek touches endowed to its EVs and the sporty proportions of an SUV. The black panel grille and LED High Performance headlamps with integrated daytime running lights and light strip up front flow into the air channels in the front apron that
is part of a network of design tweaks that assure the car’s aerodynamics. The low drag co-efficient of just 0.25 is also courtesy of clean side surfaces, flush-fitting door handles and aero wheels that range from 19 to 22 inches.

The star of the customisable interiors – which do not use any leather, as per the car’s planet-friendly credentials – is undoubtedly the MBUX hyperscreen, where three displays merge seamlessly into one another to create a screen band over 141cm wide. Mercedes-Benz’s proprietary MBUX operating system, which uses AI to make personalised suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort and vehicle functions are especially useful and further enhance the ownership experience.
Another key offering in the EQE SUV is Navigation with Electric Intelligence, which is as clever as it sounds. Rather than just tell you how to get from A to B, it also plans the fastest and most convenient route including charging stops, and reacts dynamically to traffic jams or a change in driving style. The driver can edit the navigational plan as well, though, by adding in preferred charging stations along the route or excluding ones that are proposed.
A family car with zero compromise on power, style and performance, the EQE SUV is the perfect all-electric city car.
