At the opening of the Beijing Auto Show, Hongqi opened its Guoya (国雅) luxury executive sedan for reservations from users around the world under its new Hongqi Golden Sunflower brand. The model was previously known as the Hongqi L1. 国(guo) means nation, 雅(ya) means elegance.

Besides the Guoya, three other models, namely, Guoyao (国耀), Guoli (国礼), and Guoyue (国悦) make up the Golden Sunflower fleet under the brand. Golden Sunflower is the name representative of Hongqi’s most expensive and luxurious models.

The Hongqi Guoya draws on the L-Concept car design language. Its front face adopts a large straight waterfall grille decorated by chrome material while the round headlights on both sides give a retro feel. The Hongqi logo at the center is retractable.

It is worth mentioning that the headlights ultilize DLP (digital light processing) technology, enabling the headlights to maximize light on the road and display crisp symbols to realize functions such as highlighting when pedestrians are crossing the street and dimming the road signs.

At the same time, Hongqi claims that the taillight design is derived from the “palace lantern” shape, and the decorative strip shape is taken from the eaves of ancient Chinese palaces.

The Hongqi Guoya measures 5353/1998/1511 mm, and the wheelbase is 3260 mm. It is available in 4-seat and 5-seat models; and runs on 19-inch or 20-inch rims. From the side, the car has a low ground clearance, coupled with a white-red dual-color body and dense-spoke rims.

Consumers can choose from two power options, namely a 3.0T plug-in hybrid system and a 4.0T plug-in hybrid system, both mated to an 8AT. The 3.0T engine has a maximum power of 290 kW; the 4.0T engine has a maximum power of 360 kW. Both systems are paired with ternary lithium battery packs, but the specific capacity and range have not been officially announced by Hongqi at this time.

Coming to the interior, the cockpit has a symmetrical layout, equipped with a full LCD instrument panel and a large suspended central control screen. The steering wheel is embedded with Hongqi’s iconic Golden Sunflower logo. The interior is also decorated with a large number of wood veneers, supplemented by soft leather covering and metallic materials.

From the 4-seater display car at the Beijing Auto Show, there are two independent seats in the back row with an armrest and cup holders in the center. In addition, there is a touch screen at the front of the armrest to control in-car functions such as seat heating, massage, and air-conditioning temperature. Other configurations include an AR-HUD, face/voice/gesture multi-mode interaction mode, and intelligent ambient light adjustment.
